The oriental Cuban city of Baracoa possesses the rivers of the island that are of little flow, but in its contour you can appreciate a particular beauty through the nature tourism. In fact it is a constant in oriental region of Cuba, extremely typical and traditional territory. This statement corroborates it hundreds of travelers, mainly European that already proved the peculiar charm of going for a walk for that scenario.

One in the ways of overcoming the rivers here is by means of cayucas, a typical craft of the region more to the east of the Cuban archipelago. It is a denomination that in the past implanted it the aboriginal ones, already extinct.

But that way to call to certain wooden boats stays, as many other traditions. Therefore, non alone peasants offer walks to the tourists by cayucas, but rather such a transport uses it in all their tasks.

The original cayucas was in a different way, cut trunks of the trees and with a procedure that repeats in several countries of Latin America, and the current ones practically are boats, but they are continued calling of equal it forms, with plane funds, without keel.

Very special place in this sense is the Toa River where a walk base appears. In fact, their managers commented some details of interest in this respect.

The Toa is considered the mightiest river in Cuba, with 31 cubic meters for second of water, it is located in the county of Guantánamo, in the proximities of the city of Baracoa. Their name comes from an indigenous voice that means Frog.
