The Cuban authorities maintain today a constant concern for an appropriate balance among the environmental protection and the exploitation of the areas protected in favor of the nature and adventures tourism.
This approach expressed for Elvis Milián to Latin Press the coordinator of the program of sustainable tourism of the National Center of Protected Areas. He talked that their instance belongs to Sciences, Technology and Environment Ministry (CITMA) of Cuba that it has so much very in mind the development of the trips industry like the capacity of load of the visited places.
He said that recently, during the XI International Event of Nature Tourism Turnat 2017 (September 26-30, Holguín-Baracoa) he explained to assistants the characteristics of this system in the archipelago.
In Cuba exist 211 identified protected areas and of them, less four that they are natural reserve, the rest can be using in the different modalities of tourism, as National Parks, or ecological reserve, fauna refuges, among others. This concept can even be applying the APRM (classification of the CITMA) that they have in its interior to other areas of more restriction, due to the necessary conservation.
He exemplified with the Buena Vista region in the center of the island that it has in their interior to the Caguanes National Park, to Caimanes and the refuge of fauna Key Santa María, Las Loras and other spaces it illustrates these classifications.
Of those territories they appear six that they have international code as Reservations of the Biospheres, category granted by the United Nations for the Education, Science and Culture Organization.
He explained that in the Cuban east, where the most recent Turnat happened, two Places Natural World Patrimony exist, the Park National Landing of the Granma (in the county of the same name, Granma) and the Alejandro of Humboldt.
The expert relates that in concept to allow entering to places from this type to the tourists should help, because it is individuals that they have a conscience of environmental protection in general and they like to benefit these districts. He details that it allows to know the areas, but at the same time to carry out the smallest possible impact in them.
It doesn’t mean that everybody who carries out a path it is environmentalist, with the result that it monitors for experts the parameters of those scenarios, and they open up in occasions some routes, but they close other according to the necessity, like it happens due to the step of hurricanes.
All the protected squares have a handling plan according to their category, and in those plans are included the paths, conservation and diverse activities.
